A
software-as-a-service (SaaS) testing company is using a social
network of testers to help companies test their applications.
uTest
has announced the general availability of its SaaS marketplace for
software application testing, providing software companies with
on-demand testing services by a global community of professional
software testers. The service is designed as a cheaper option to
longer-term testing contracts.
The uTester Community, says uTest, consists of the first,
largest and so far only, on-demand worldwide pool of professional
software testers, delivering a full range of testing services:
functionality, usability, load, and performance testing.
The uTester Community consists of more than 8,300 skilled
software professionals across 131 countries.
"Software application testing is an incredibly dynamic field and
we are seeing significant changes and advances regularly," said
Rona Shuchat, an analyst at IDC.
Shuchat said, "uTest's model could very well be indicative of
where the future of software testing services are headed.
"With pressures surrounding faster time-to-market,
customer-control of testing environments and rapidly remediating
application defects, it makes sense to provide a SaaS-based
on-demand model to effectively address these concerns."
Customers in need of on-demand software testing can instantly
create a uTest account, testing budget, and create and post a
release cycle for testing by the uTester Community.
"There are around 75,000 professional testers worldwide and we
are honoured that around 10% to date have joined our community,"
said Doron Reuveni, chief executive officer at uTest.
uTest offers two pricing models, on-demand and annual
subscription. Both options use a pay-for-performance and
pay-per-bug model.
