Microsoft
has updated its
.net Framework and
Visual Studio programming
tools with
the products' first service pack.
Microsoft has reduced the .net runtime by over 85%. Applications
using the .net framework should be quicker to download and install,
said Microsoft.
The service packs are intended to help developers build Windows
applications quicker.
They include tools such as the .net Framework Client Profile,
which Microsoft said would
enable developers to deploy Windows-based applications
faster.
Scott Guthrie, corporate
vice-president of
Microsoft's .net Developer Division, said: "The .net Framework
Client Profile significantly speeds up the installation of Windows
and enables a much more consumer-friendly experience. This is a
huge step forward for the more than 4 million .net developers
worldwide."
