George Best Belfast City Airport has upgraded its internet
access so it can carry real-time flight information on its
website.
The
airport
has installed a 2Mbyte managed internet link supplied by
ntl:Telewest
Business.
The upgrade provides high-speed internet connectivity to all the
airport's administrative offices and retail outlets as well as its
website, which has more than 30,000 unique web visits every
month.
David Armstrong, regional sales manager of ntl:Telewest
Business, said: "Internet connectivity is as important to the
operation of the airport as any other utility."
The airport was used by more than two million passengers in
2007.
It selected a managed link to guarantee the reliability of the
connection and minimise maintenance. The service is based on a
leased-line internet service, and includes hardware and
round-the-clock support.
