
IBM is planning to boost its business process management
expertise with the proposed acquisition of
Ilog, a specialist in
rules-based software.
IBM said the acquisition would provide users of its
business
process management and
service-oriented architecture products with a set of rule
management tools for
WebSphere.
Tom Rosamilia, general manager, IBM WebSphere, said, "Ilog's
software allows businesses to more effectively manage and automate
the decision-making process, giving companies an opportunity to
react with incredible speed and accuracy."
Ilog offers tools and technologies for business managers,
analysts, architects and developers to use as they analyse, plan,
track and improve business processes. Ilog is used by businesses
and government organisations including
HiscoxDepartment of Work and Pensions (DWP),
Royal Bank of Scotland and GlaxoSmithkline.
