Facebook has unveiled its
new site design, described by the social network site as cleaner
and simpler.
Users are also being given the chance to try out a host of new
features.
In the course of testing the new site, Facebook was
hit with a data breach, which saw users' dates of births
inadvertently revealed. Such information can be useful for identity
thieves. This bug has now been ironed out.
The company is inviting people to use the new design and try out
the improved features by navigating back and forth between the new
and current versions of the site.
Access to the new design will be limited at first, and will
gradually become available to all of Facebook's 80 million-plus
users over the coming days.
Facebook is using the new design to provide more feature-rich
"walls" to users, invite them to post more content, and benefit
from easier navigation.
