A
government report says its transformational government strategy
has brought major improvements to public services.
The Cabinet Office has published its latest report highlighting
how and where people are benefiting from work across government to
improve public services.
The Transformational Government Annual Report shines a light on
progress made with the aim of ensuring public services are always
designed and delivered around the needs of the user.
The report says a website rationalisation programme is pushing
ahead, with another 712 government websites earmarked for
closure.
This brings the total to more than 900 closed since 2006, making
it easier for people to find information online, says the
report.
The report also says more than half of all government employees
are now customers of shared corporate services, saving money and
freeing staff to concentrate on delivering improved public
services.
It also says the new Customer Service Excellence standard, to
embed best practice across the public sector and promote new
guidelines on measuring customer satisfaction, has recently been
published.
Government chief information officer John Suffolk said, "It is
only two and a half years since we launched the Transformational
Government Strategy, and in that time we have done a significant
amount to improve public services."
