Web-filtering, anti-spam, anti-virus and firewall product cuts costs

Optenet has launched its web-filtering, anti-spam, anti-virus and firewall protection enterprise product in the UK.
Omar Aguirre, COO of Optenet, said integrating the functions into a single product could reduce a company's costs by 70%.
He said it would save integration, virtual software licensing, and virtual server maintenance costs.
Optenet reduces the number of servers needed because central, branch and end-user policies can be set on a single instance, deployed and managed centrally.
Omar Aguirre said enterprise users want to reduce complexity and hardware. They also want greater independence from service providers, Aguirre added.
He said there is a strong trend towards a hybrid model of having core security in-house and outsourcing anti-spam services which can easily be switched to new providers if necessary.
