Travel company National Express East Coast's website took just seven months to chalk up a million travel bookings following its launch last November.
The website simplifies bookings and travel plans for customers. These include discounted prices, preferred reserved seating options, bicycle spaces and notification via e-mail when tickets for a particular date become available.
The train company also offers laptop users free Wi-Fi access on services between London and Scotland in both first and standard class carriages as well as on the railway platforms station in York.
Emma Passey, e-commerce manager at National Express East Coast, said, "We brought specification and management of our online bookings system in-house so we could provide our customers with the website we felt they deserve - a real one-stop shop for their travel needs".
National Express East Coast developed the website with Atos Origin, and user-design specialist Flow Interactive.
