A large group of English local authorities have advertised a
group framework tender for the provision of
mobile communications that could be worth an estimated
£40m.
Advertised in the Official Journal of the European Union, the
procurement process is being led by Kent County Council.
The advert reads, "The overall objective of this framework is to
generate primary suppliers that are able to deliver operational
network(s), technical support, management, training and strategic
advice and guidance services relating to all types of mobile
telecommunication requirements."
The deal is expected to include several operators and will serve
the needs of a number of local authority buying consortiums up and
down the country.
Police forces, fire services, NHS organisations, and the
charitable sector are also expected to benefit from any deal.
