IT jobs will not be among those affected by the
1,800 job cuts announced Norwich Union Insurance today (6
June).
Job cuts of between 1,500 and 1,800 staff will take place by
2010 in NUI Operations division and effect staff in customer
services, sales, claims and back-office administration.
The cuts follow the
announcment of the loss of 385 IT jobs last October, although a
spokesman confirmed that today's round of job losses would not
affect staff in IT departments.
Norwich Union said the cuts announced today were necessary after
a number of mergers and acquisitions had left NUI's Operations with
too many products, processes, systems and locations.
In addition, Norwich Union Insurance said the way customers and
brokers and business partners want to do business continues is
changing with a significant increase in insurance purchased
online.
