The Royal Mail Group has awarded a five-year contract to Logica
to implement
business intelligence systemsaimed at making the
Post Office more adaptable to changes in business needs and
market conditions.
Royal Mail said the business intelligence systems will support
the Post Office's strategic plan for the modernisation of its IT
systems to improve service delivery and lower support costs.
Logica will replace to end-of-life systems with master data
management (MDM) and dynamic intelligence warehouse (DIW) software
products from
Kalido. Both systems are scheduled to go live in early
2009.
The MDM system will hold and manage all of the Post Office's
reference data, such as the price of stamps, while the DIW will
store information about the number and type of products sold daily
at post offices other outlets.
Royal Mail said that together the two systems will provide up to
date information to support the sales process and help the Post
Office ensure its products are competitive.
Keith Graves, head of business partnerships at the Post Office
said the new systems will deliver improvements in consistency,
efficiency and access to information through integration and
standardisation.
"This delivers true visibility across the entire team and a more
efficient way of working, all resulting ultimately in increased
sales," he said.
