EDS and Remploy e-cycle have tied up a multi-million
pound IT recycling deal.
The three-year IT processing and recycling agreement will employ
disabled people in the UK, said Remploy e-cycle.
Remploy e-cycle will manage many of the thousands of pieces of
end-of-life computer equipment - from laptop and desktop computers
to peripherals and servers - handled by EDS in the UK, Europe, the
Middle East and Africa every year.
This includes collecting redundant IT equipment from EDS sites,
grading and assessment, refurbishment and repair, re-imaging,
recycling and disposal.
E-cycle - part of Remploy, the UK provider of employment
services for disabled people - will also provide a full and secure
data cleansing service.
Each piece of equipment will be refurbished to a standard
suitable for redeployment, remarketing or as a donation to a third
party or charitable organisation.
The work will be handled by Remploy factories in London, south
Wales and the north of England.
Tony Stroud, general manager of Remploy e-cycle, said, "EDS and
its clients can be assured of a full end-of-life service, which
will enable full compliance with current legislation as well as
supporting EDS in its own sustainability goals."
