PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP has awarded a payroll business process outsourcing contract to Logica on a pay-as-you-go basis.

The contract covers 18,000 employees and pensioners, with Logica running the service on an Oracle HCM platform using its own secure hosting environment Odis (on demand infrastructure service).

The pay-as-you-go model removes the need to pay a traditional upfront software licence fee.

This deal marks the first win since Logica announced its partnership with Oracle to offer Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) as part of its own outsourced HR and payroll service.

The PricewaterhouseCoopers service is due to roll-out this December and interfaces with the firm's existing HR and finance systems.

The Oracle system will allow the PWC team to run error tracking and advance checks on payroll, rather than having to wait until the end of each month.

It will also enable them to run a management dashboard to evaluate the payroll in line with the overall business, and allow them to run workflows and self-service e-mail generation.

Logica recently announced 1,300 onshore redundancies as it moves towards managing its contracts from offshore locations such as India.
