Allied Carpets has signed a five-year, multi-million-pound contract with Azzurri Communications to improve its communications and cut costs through convergence.

The fully managed deal covers converged voice, data, mobile, LAN and WAN infrastructure and contact centre operations.

It will support communications at Allied's 225 retail outlets, head office and UK distribution centres.

The company currently has separate voice and data network infrastructures and wanted to converge them.

Consolidating the entire telecommunications infrastructure would ease management complexity and reduce costs, said Allied, as well as create a consolidated retail IP telephony platform.

Ken Moss, IT controller at Allied Carpets, said, "We wanted a long-term partner that could deliver all our networking needs. With Azzurri, we can bring together our entire communications estate under one roof."
