Nortel CEO says green IT is good for business

Nortel CEO Mike Zafirovski says the ever increasing green focus of the IT industry is good for business.

Zafirovski (pictured) told a Fortune green business conference in the US, "The integration of environmental responsibility into corporate business models is not only the right thing to do but a necessity for business success."

Zafirovski said, "As a businessman, my perspective always starts with a mandate to enhance shareholder value. But even with this as my focus, I strongly believe the time is right for business and society to get together to address today's environmental problems."

He added, "Nortel and its partners are leveraging innovation to deliver solutions that can provide tangible benefits to the environment, reduce energy consumption and provide real business benefits to our customers

"It's the right thing to do for the planet and for the business."
