Sussex Health Information Service (HIS) is cutting costs
and improving delivery of training to 25,000NHSstaff through
e-learning.
Sussex, the UK's largest HIS, is using flexible e-learning
courses delivered online via training services company ILX Group's
Best Practice Portal to aid staff progression and support
front-line carers.
The portal framework has enabled Sussex HIS to create an
e-learning pathway for staff to acquire project management
skills.
Wendy Dearing, senior lead for training, change and process
continuity at the HIS, said, "Delivering best-practice e-learning
courses via the ILX portal has enhanced our training.
"We now have central visibility of the access, progress and
performance of our 25,000 users, over 17 sites. Access to courses
is improved, and an internal survey shows our pass rate is still as
high as it was with classroom-based training."
Other benefits have been significant cost savings and the
ability to provide more training to larger numbers of staff, says
Dearing.
The e-learning courses are providing staff with competencies
required by the
NHS's mandatory knowledge and skills framework for personal
development and career progression.
Sussex HIS is also offering e-learning courses via the ILX
portal to its neighbouring HISs in Kent and Surrey.
