IBM has unveiled amash-up portfolio for business use,
allowing individuals to create situational applications, or
mash-ups, to help them do their jobs more effectively.
IBM has created a mash-up portfolio to help all types of
individual users and teams get the information they need. The
portfolio is centered around two products, IBM Mashup Center and
WebSphere sMash.
IBM Mashup Center allows non-technical users to drag and drop
mash-up components from personal, enterprise and web sources to
create, deploy and share customised web applications, said the
supplier.
In addition to ease of use, the product also includes the
management, security and governance capabilities that IT
departments require. IBM Mashup Center is going into beta later
this month.
IBM WebSphere sMash is a development environment for the
technical developer.
WebSphere sMash provides an agile development environment that
supports various scripting languages and enables rapid aggregation
of disparate services and feeds.
IBM WebSphere sMash can be used to create widgets for IBM Mashup
Center, IBM said.
A developer's version of WebSphere
sMash will continue to be available from Project Zero as a free
download, and the commercial platform will be sold on a per-license
basis, and will be available in the second quarter direct from IBM
and its partners.
