Microsoft is asking the public to vote for the winner of
its annualDesignIT
competitionin aid of the charitable
sector.
The competition is a nationwide challenge for IT professionals
to submit designs for new IT systems to address a need in a UK
charity of their choice.
Over the past four months, Microsoft has been inviting IT
professionals to enter designs that demonstrate creativity and
innovation, as well as tackling real issues faced by charities
large and small.
For the competition, Microsoft DesignIT has teamed up with four
leading UK charities. These are NSPCC, Global Action Plan, Leonard
Cheshire Disability and Fauna and Flora International.
Until 11 April,
the public will be able to vote for their favourite design, out
of a shortlist of five entries.
The winner will see their system design implemented for the
charity of their choice to the sum of £15,000. The five finalists,
picked by a panel of expert judges from this year's entries, have
all devised innovative systems which address serious concerns.
The winner will be announced at the Microsoft DesignIT
exhibition on 12 June 2008.
