Xerox has launched acarbon footprintmeter that can tell
companies howenvironmental efficient
their offices are.
According to Xerox, its
sustainability calculator tracks the energy
use, waste and greenhouse gas emissions of document technology -
printers, photocopiers and multifunction devices. The data
generated can help managers reduce their offices' environmental
footprint.
Xerox also said the proprietary software tool would help
customers identify ways to save money.
John Kelly, president of Xerox Global Services North America,
said, "People who are environmentally conscious at home are
starting to bring this awareness to work, but in many cases they
didn't know where to start."
Kelly promised that the sustainability calculator would be "an
effective environmental assessment tool".
Xerox denied the initiative was a marketing stunt and pointed
out that the sustainability calculator tracked technology from
other printers, copier and MFP makers besides its own.
