CIOs are still being sidelined when it comes to reporting
to their boardson IT issues, shows research
commissioned by security software firm McAfee.
The research reveals that only 47% of CIOs are presenting IT
issues in board discussions.
In almost half (45%) of the organisations surveyed it remains
the CEO who takes the lead on IT issues, and one-fifth of CFOs
represent the IT department.
McAfee said the figures highlight how IT chiefs still need to do
more to raise their visibility and influence, as IT is increasingly
considered core to business reputation and success.
McAfee commissioned the Economist Intelligence Unit to conduct
the research, which explored the evolving relationship between the
CIO and the board.
The EMEA-based survey polled 185 senior executives from a range
of industries. More than a third were CEOs and 30% were CIOs.
