The 3D Secure module is designed to prevent online fraud, save users money in time and administration, and increase customer confidence.

Sandy Fife, the council's head of revenues, said, "The benefit for the council and our customers is that 3D Secure gives far greater online security. A key part of our strategy is to encourage people to pay online. The more assurances we can give them that it is safe and secure, the better."

Knowing that the council website is 3D Secure gives our customers increased confidence when paying for services online, particularly following the recent spate of high-profile data security breaches around the country."
