Truck, bus and engine manufacturerScaniahas implemented a wireless communication network at its main production facility in Sweden to reduce the company'scarbon footprint.

Scania, which operates in 100 countries, is using the InterReach Unison System from ADC to maintain its accreditation under the ISO 14001 environmental management standard.

The system provides wireless coverage that enables mobile phones to use less signal strength for calls, which minimises the microwave emissions, reduces power consumption for recharging and extends battery life.

Leif Riiser, product manager responsible for telephony for Scania, said the manufacturer had chosen the ADC system because of the coverage and signal quality it delivered.
