62% of IT leaders to increase security spending this year, study says

Research commissioned by Cisco says that 62% of IT decision makers will beincreasing their security spendingthis year.

The research into the effects of remote working on businesses covered responses from 2,000 remote workers and IT professionals across ten countries, including the UK.

Of the IT professionals who said they would be increasing security spending, more than half (37%) said their increased security spending will rise by more than 10% when compared with the previous year.

Of the 10 countries in the study, China, India and Brazil feature the highest number of IT decision-makers planning to increase spending by more than 10%.

Planned IT security spending by country:

India - 83% will spend more than last year - 60% to increase spending by more than 10%.

China: 83% (58% by more than 10%)

Brazil: 68% (56%)

Germany: 61% (31%)

Italy: 60% (35%)

UK: 58% (29%)

Australia: 55% (30%)

US: 53% (27%)

France: 49% (22%)

Japan: 24% (15%)
