
Applehas released a beta of its
forthcomingiPhone 2.0 software, which will
include new enterprise features.
Apple said the full release of the software is scheduled for
June. Analysts have said that the
iPhone does not fully support enterprise working.
The iPhone 2.0 beta release includes both the iPhone Software
Development Kit as well as new enterprise features.
These enterprise features include support for Microsoft Exchange
ActiveSync, to provide secure, over-the-air push e-mail, contacts
and calendars, as well as remote wipe, and the addition of Cisco
IPsec virtual private network for encrypted access to private
corporate networks.
Steve Jobs, Apple CEO, said, "iPhone's enterprise features
combined with its revolutionary Multi-Touch user interface and
advanced software architecture provide the best user experience and
the most advanced software platform ever for a mobile device."
