The Brendoncare Foundation has cut operational costs by
40% by implementing integrated payroll andtime and attendancesoftware.
The foundation, which operates eight residential and nursing
homes in the south of England, was running separate systems,
resulting in the same information being entered twice.
Graham Camfield, systems accountant at the Brendoncare
Foundation, said although charities are often free of the
competitive pressures that affect business, efficiency was a high
priority for charities.
The foundation has also deployed COA's
human resource software to replace its paper-based system to
further increase operational efficiency.
"By implementing the integrated payroll and time and attendance
software from COA solutions, we have reduced operational costs by
automating many processes and eliminating duplicate and inaccurate
data entry," he said.
The foundation has been running the COA software in parallel
with its previous systems to ensure a smooth transition, but
Camfield said he expected as much as 15% further cost savings when
they switch to the single system at the end of March 2008.
"When we are running only COA software, we will be able to link
to the foundation's financial software from the same supplier to
create a single, integrated system with automated data flow from
time and attendance, to payroll, to accounting - all linked to HR,"
said Camfield.
The foundation deployed
COA's OpenAccounts financial software in 2004 to reduce
operation costs by 40% by having a single system that could be
accessed by all the care homes run by the foundation.
"We chose OpenAccounts because it enabled us re-run any debtor
reports whenever required, review historical invoice information,
and copy core data to new homes very quickly, which we could not do
with our previous system," said Camfield.
He said using OpenAccounts, new care homes' systems can be set
up within an hour and instead of several days at it had done in the
past.
