The Hibernian insurance group in Ireland has signed a
£530,000 contract with Canon to support itsenvironmental print
strategy.
The contract is designed to increase Hibernian's print
efficiency, reduce paper wastage and
minimise environmental impact through a balanced deployment of
printing technology.
The Canon-managed print service includes eMaintenance, a
remotely monitored machine health system to ensure maximum
uptime.
As part of the contract, Canon has installed 48 multifunctional
devices, with colour and black and white machines combined with
desktop printers to ensure an appropriate device is used for every
print job.
Canon has also installed uniFLOW Output Manager across the
organisation, which sends print jobs to a single queue, enabling
employees to securely access their document from any device in the
building.
Hibernian operates a cashless system and employees are issued
with a swipe-card to use the buildings' facilities and shops, as
well as accessing company resources.
Not only does this ensure the security of sensitive information
and cut wastage of forgotten print-outs, it also provides details
of all print jobs that can be accessed centrally, allowing
Hibernian to monitor and control usage, and therefore costs.
As part of the managed print services that Canon offers,
Hibernian is also taking advantage of eMaintenance, the remote
monitoring service.
EMaintenance means that any error code issued by a Canon machine
is sent directly to its service team, informing them of any service
or parts needed.
In addition to eMaintenance, Canon has also trained "super
users" on each floor to enable workers to trouble shoot where
possible.
These measures act as preventative maintenance, meaning that
minor problems can be dealt with in-house or remotely, so the
machines enjoy maximum uptime.
Stephen Pitcher, executive manager for group property and
procurement at Hibernian, said, "Our partnership with Canon was a
strategic fit and has resulted in an intelligent system that suits
the way we work.
"Hibernian measures all suppliers against set criteria, which
include productivity, cost and environmental responsibility, and
Canon was able to provide solutions and add value in all these key
areas."
