Data warehousing and business intelligence software is being increasingly used by businesses, says research commissioned by software procurement firm the Evaluation Centre.

The use of data warehousing and business intelligence software has now assumed a high profile in many organisations, says the research, with 66% of senior managers seeing it as "very critical" or "critical" to their decision-making process.

This is reflected in the fact that 67% of organisations are planning to extend the scope of their data warehousing activities to new functional areas, while 64% will be further exploiting the use of their existing information.

A further 53% will be expanding the use of these systems to new users, said the research, which surveyed 100 firms.
