
Pharmaceutical companyAstraZenecahas signed a £25m global
network agreement withBTto cover 170 managed connections at
131 sites in 60 countries.
BT will extend the existing BT-managed global MPLS network in
the Europe, Middle East and Africa region and Asia Pacific to 33
new sites in the US and South America to provide a single delivery
platform.
The pharmaceutical company said the expanded network will ensure
that all employees will have access to real-time information as
well as provide a foundation for the convergence of voice, video
and other multimedia applications across a single network.
Richard Williams, global chief information officer for
AstraZeneca, said, "The service model we have developed will ensure
BT services will deliver greater agility, responsiveness and
collaboration, which will lead to improved business
performance."
Laurie Bowen, managing director commercial and brands at BT
global services, said the deal was an example of how global
businesses are increasingly reliant on permanent connectivity
between a high number of sites around the world.
