Taylor Wimpey has signed a £30m, five-year outsourcing
contract withLogicaCMGto reduce IT operational
costs by 20% by integrating the newly formed housing group's IT
systems.
Taylor Wimpey was formed through the merger of
Taylor Woodrow and
George Wimpey in 2007.
The outsourcing project is aimed at improving IT services, and
will focus on common infrastructure services across the newly
formed organisation.
The company said a key factor in awarding the contract to
LogicaCMG was the company's six-year relationship with George
Wimpey.
Taylor Wimpey has also partnered with LogicaCMG, which joins the
housing company's IT leadership team.
Paul Caris, chief information officer at Taylor Wimpey, said,
"Our challenge following the merger was to provide a consistent
service across the enlarged business and to deliver cost
efficiencies through economies of scale."
Caris said by outsourcing the delivery of core services across
the company's 50 offices, the internal IT team could focus on
integrating strategic business systems.
