Blackberrymobile e-mail usersin North America
suffered a major service outage yesterday (Monday), the second in a
year.
The outage lasted about three hours, with users unable to access
their messages, and follows a
two-day outage last April.
Voice and SMS services were unaffected by the outage, said
RIM, Blackberry's owner.
RIM has not explained what caused yesterday's problem. Last
year, the outage was cause by a network software upgrade.
After that incident, the company promised to tighten up its
testing procedures to avoid a repeat of the problem.
