Microsoft has expanded the consumer reach of
Windows-based mobile phones with the launch of the Xperia X1
smartphone by Sony Ericsson at this week's Mobile World Congress in
Barcelona.
It is the first
Windows-based phone launched by Sony Ericsson, which normally
relies on the rival
Symbian OS.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 comes with a three-inch touch
screen, a sliding qwerty keyboard and a 3.2 mega-pixel camera. The
phone supports 3G and Wi-Fi services.
The phone will be available to buy in the second half of
2008.
