ThePolice Service of
Northern Irelandhas awarded anICT managed servicescontract to
Fujitsu to improve IT service quality, reduce service costs and
deliver benefits to police officers on the beat.
The initial £34m deal, potentially worth £100m over a period of
eight years, will help the force consolidate on a single IT
provider. Currently, over five IT suppliers provide the force's IT
systems.
Fujitsu will manage maintenance and servicing of between 8,000
and 10,000 PCs and laptops for the force.
Fujitsu will also be responsible for providing and managing a
fixed-line telephony network, Wan and Lan data networks,
application hosting services, and a network of static and mobile
automatic number plate recognition cameras.
