Utility Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) has signed
a strategic deal with BT to become the provider of integrated voice
and broadband services to SSE for resale to its UK
customers.
Under the terms of the three-year agreement, BT Wholesale will
support SSE's expansion plans to become a national provider of
integrated communications services to its 8.5 million customers
in the UK.
The service is expected to launch this summer. The agreement
also includes second-line customer support and the development of a
customised online portal that will enable SSE's customers to access
the service.
SSE is an existing BT Wholesale customer, offering telephony
services to about 150,000 customers across the UK.
Today's agreement builds on that relationship and will enables
SSE to rapidly bring high-speed broadband and voice services to its
home energy customers, under BT Wholesale's white-label managed
services portfolio.
Itret Latif, telecoms business manager at SSE, said, "Scottish
& Southern Energy wanted a partner that could support us with
the best suite of integrated communications services quickly,
nationally and with minimal capital and operational risk to our
business.
"We are enhancing our offer in today's fiercely competitive
market by building on our relationship with BT. This will help us
become a trusted converged services supplier for our customers
across the UK."
