HSBC is building a datacentre in London to help support its European IT infrastructure.
The centre is being built by Digital Realty Trust in line with the bank's specific needs.
Located on a development site in suburban London that was acquired by Digital Realty Trust in April 2007, HSBC and Digital Realty Trust have signed a long-term lease agreement for the "build-to-suit" datacentre.
The companies have collaborated closely in developing its specifications to support HSBC's security requirements, environmental goals, and a wide range of other technical and business needs. The project is expected to be completed in late 2008.
Roy Adorni, global head of datacentre services at HSBC, said, "Having a partner for this datacentre project with the experience and resources that Digital Realty Trust offers is a major asset for us. During the design and planning phase for this datacentre facility, Digital's team has been an extension of our own, and the result is a plan that we feel very confident in."
