Engineering firm Alstom is outsourcing desktop support for 55,000 users worldwide to Atos Origin.

The six-year deal will see Atos provide support through a network of eight global service desks and onsite technicians deployed in key countries.

The full implementation is phased and is forecast to be completed in less than three years.

William Nodale, who is heading the project at Alstom, said, "This Atos network will enable us to provide all our users with support in their native language, including French, English, German, Italian, and Spanish.

"Our employees, who are increasingly on the road, will be able to count on technical support at all times."
