Dell andMicrosofthave joined the product RED brand, and will be selling computers to help raise money to tackle Aids in Africa.

The Dell PCs will be powered by Windows Vista and will be available in the UK from January 31.

RED was launched in 2006 and is a brand designed to engage business and consumer power in the fight against Aids in Africa.

Sale of products has so far contributed more than £27m to projects in Rwanda, Swaziland and Ghana.

For each purchase of a RED branded computer, Dell and Microsoft will make a combined contribution of £26 to the fund, which will buy nearly four months' worth of antiretroviral treatment for an individual.

UK customers will need to go to www.dell.co.uk/joinred to buy a computer.
