International law firmSimmons & Simmonsexpects a quick
return on its investment in anenterprise search systemto be used by
1,000 lawyers in 21 offices worldwide to access all relevant
databases and information resources.
"With a reduction of search time by only one or two minutes a
day per lawyer, our investment in
Recommind's MindServer platform will be recovered in less than
three months," said David Fitch, knowledge management director at
Simmons & Simmons.
"The volume of data stored across our systems is increasing
exponentially and we needed a search tool that would allow our
lawyers to simultaneously search and retrieve information from both
internal and external sources," he said.
Simmons & Simmons chose MindServer based on feedback from
users on two shortlisted products as well the product's proven
track record with other international legal firms.
"Recommind was also able to offer an industry-specific module
that provides enhanced search functionality, including the facility
to locate specific legal experts within the worldwide
organisation," said Fitch.
The system, to be rolled out in all offices by April this year,
will enable lawyers to use a single interface to search the firm's
repository of standards and project management documents, more than
70,000 precedents and various online legal services.
