Investment exchange Plus Markets has increased the value
of trades completed in a year by 150% in 2007 with its new trading
platform contributing to a strong December.
The company, which achieved
recognised trading exchange status in July last year, completed
the implementation of core trading platform from
OMX in November.
Trading platforms are more important than ever with the
explosion in algorithmic trading, which automates trades when
prices reach a certain level.
It recorded a record 28,000 trades on Monday.
A Plus Markets spokesman said the OMX platform has enabled the
exchange to list 7,500 companies rather than the roughly 1,200 it
had before. "Prior to November, the average number of trades per
day was 4,000, and now it is about 20,000," he said.
