Sage has released manufacturing and wholesale and retail
industry-specific modules for itsSage
200 business process managementsuite.
The latest batch follows the release last year of the Sage 200
construction industry module, which included multi-level contract
cost control and reporting in terms of the UK construction industry
scheme.
Sage 200 was launched in 2007 to target mid-sized organisations
by packaging financial, human resources and customer relationship
management software into an integrated suite at a lower cost than
the enterprise product.
"The vertical modules give companies a greater ability to match
technology to specific industry needs," said David Pinches, head of
software group at Sage UK.
Sage said the manufacturing module is aimed at helping companies
to meet delivery times by controlling the production processes and
reduce costs through better monitoring of material and inventory
processes.
Ian Mence, business development manager at steel component
manufacturer Bushell & Meadows, said the manufacturing module
saved time and money by enabling the company to collect shop-floor
by product and warehouse.
The wholesale and retail module adds functionality to deal with
product variances such as size, colour and style. It also
integrates with the point of sale functionality of the Sage 200
suite.
Anthony James, commercial director of clothing retailer South to
South, said the retail module was useful in simplifying code
creation, stock transfers and purchase orders for clothing, which
comes in lots of colours and sizes.
