Arbor Networks, a provider of secure
service control systems for global businessnetworks, is acquiring Ellacoya
Networks, a provider of carrier-class broadband service
optimisation products.
Arbor Networks says it protects more than 70% of the world's
service provider networks from security threats such as
DDoS attacks, botnets and worms, as well as network issues such
as traffic and routing instability.
Ellacoya specialises in
deep packet inspection (DPI) systems deployed at the broadband
edge and peering links in some of the world's largest Tier 1
service provider networks, providing traffic visibility and traffic
prioritisation capabilities.
In addition, the Ellacoya system is used to deliver new products
and services, such as IPTV, digital video and on-demand
quality-assured broadband services.
These capabilities will extend the Arbor offering to customers.
The value of the transaction has not been disclosed.
