UK manufacturer, Willerby Holiday Homes, is rolling
outenterprise content management softwareto support itslean manufacturingprogramme.
Lean manufacturing involves delivering stock just-in-time to
production lines to reduce inventory levels, but this puts pressure
on the back office, said Howard Dawson, integrated systems manager
at Willerby.
"Using lean manufacturing, we are processing about 8,000
invoices a month and raising a much larger number of orders than
before," said Dawson.
Willerby has signed a deal with The Content Group (TCG) to
deploy Invu document management software and iMarkup web-based
business process and
business intelligence software to meet the speed and volume
demands of lean manufacturing.
The Invu software will aid invoice processing by enabling
invoices to be scanned and goods receipts to be processed while it
records the back office ordering process.
The software will also ensure that the internal communication
and recording and documenting process is improved, giving the
company greater visibility of the just-in-time ordering process and
tighter controls over it.
iMarkup will be used to handle non-standard options requests to
allow customers to tailor the design of their holiday homes.
"TCG will integrate the Invu and iMarkup software with our
bespoke ERP system, instantly adding new features that would have
taken considerably more time and effort to develop," said
Dawson.
