Web metrics firm comScore has said that UK and
Frenchonline retailers appear to have done well over the
Christmas shopping period, and were ahead of
their German counterparts.
Bob Ivins, EVP of European markets at comScore, said, "Online
retailers appear to have done well in the UK and France this
Christmas. German activity was impeded by the long-running rail
strikes as well as the more general lack of consumer confidence
that has been reported in the country."
In the UK, Amazon sites saw the most consumer traffic, taking up
9% of retail category visits.
Apple followed with 6% of all retail visits, said comScore.
Home Retail Group, owner of multi-channel retailers Argos and
Homebase, had a 5% share.
Tesco took 4% and Play.com saw 3% of traffic to make up the top
five, said comScore.
