Bristol Wateris deploying amobile workforce management systemfrom Aspective to improve its field
operations.
The system will encompass resource planning, work scheduling,
business process management, GPS and mobile data communication to
laptops and PDAs over the
Vodafone network.
It is based on the Field Force Automation (FFA) system from GE
Energy. Aspective is a Vodafone services company.
FFA will consolidate planned and unplanned tasks through
integration with Bristol Water's existing SAP ERP2005 and CRM,
Smallworld GIS and Water Regulation Administration systems.
More than 30 current manual processes and 80 paper forms will be
streamlined by the new system, some of which are highly complex and
dependent on multiple resources and workflows.
"We require a proven technology with flexibility to address the
process management and schedule optimisation needs of our wide
range of work types," said Manuel Cermeron, Bristol Water director
of organisation and development.
"Once in place, the new system will give our field engineers an
unbeatable level of support to their day-to-day activities, driving
down our response times and providing customers with improved
levels of service," he said.
Common tasks supported by the system include meter installation
and the inspection, maintenance and repair of Bristol Water's 6,500
km water pipe network.
