More than half (69%) of UK internet users would
changebroadbandsupplier if offered a
cheaper package, according to a survey by ICM
Research.
The survey of more than a 1,000 internet users found that 51% of
respondents would move to a supplier that could offer
faster connection speeds.
Poor customer service by broadband suppliers was cited by 36% as
the reason for considering switching to a new supplier.
However, the survey commissioned by BroadbandChoices.co.uk also
found that even though consumers could save around £100 a year by
changing broadband supplier, 29% said they would not be bothered to
switch, and 43% said they were worried about getting tied into a
lengthy contract.
Michael Phillips, product development director at
BroadbandChoices.co.uk, said if consumers shopped around, they
could save money without entering into a punitive long-term
contract.
