A Forrester survey of 275 IT decision-makers on their
firms' adoption and use ofWeb 2.0
toolssuch as blogs, podcasts, wikis, RSS, and
social networking, found that tools more widely adopted in smaller
companies.
The survey showed that blogs are used by 20% of employees at
firms with 500 to 999 employees and by 12% of the employees at
firms with 20,000 or more employees.
"For firms that have made an investment in Web 2.0 tools,
employee usage averages out to 29% of staff,
with podcasting and blogs showing the greatest adoption," said
Forrester analyst Oliver Young.
For example, 21% of firms who have invested in blogs reported
employee usage levels more than 50%, and nearly 10% reported usage
topping 75%, he said.
