Woolworths is implementing software fromAvail Intelligenceto automatically generate gift recommendations for its online customers based on customer behaviour.

The store expects the recommendations to increase the number of sales per visit through the recommendations that are generated through collective intelligence and algorithms from customer behaviour.

"We have already noted improvements to the customer journey, with positive customer feedback on the recommendations generated. This has been particularly strong on toys, which is an extremely important area for Woolworths during the Christmas period," said Mark Batty, online marketing manager for Woolworths.

He said the technology enables the retail outlet to present relevant recommendations at the right time in the buying process, which customers are asking for. "In turn this should enable us to hit key performance targets in terms of increased basket size and repeat purchases."
