Mothercare , the UK baby products retailer, is to meet its commitment to thePCI Data Security Standardwith a combination ofImprivata's Onesignauthentication appliance and one-time-password tokens from Secure Computing.

Mothercare CFO Neil Harrington, said, "Security of payment data is a critical concern for the whole retail sector."

The OneSign appliance provides up to 750 staff with single sign-on and strong authentication to the applications to which they have access.

Most employees have been issued with one-time-password tokens from Secure Computing. Along with username and passwords, the one-time-password tokens and Secure Computing provide network access to staff.

Staff who work in a multi-user workstation environment will access their work via biometric fingerprint readers. Once the readers let the staff into the network, Onesign Single Sign-On automatically logs the user onto the applications to which they have access.

All organisations that handle card payments are required to meet the PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), a set of security requirements based on industry best practice.
