The Diamond Trading Company (DTC), the UK arm of De
Beers, has awarded an £8m IT services outsourcing contract
toUnisys to improve business continuity
and reduce costs.
Unisys will manage the London-based company's datacentre server
environment, including
virtualisation technology to speed up processing.
"We required a sophisticated, business-driven IT infrastructure
to enhance our supply chain and support our operations," said
Jeremy Newell, director of IT at The DTC.
Newell said Unisys was chosen because of its expertise in global
services delivery and its ability to help The DTC achieve its goals
of improved
business continuity,
disaster recovery, and operational cost.
"Unisys datacentre services will help The DTC reduce hardware
requirements and make better use of existing IT resources," said
Newell.
The transfer of The DTC's IT architecture to the virtualised
infrastructure is scheduled for completion by August 2008.
