Dellwill buy Everdream, a provider
ofremote desktop management systems.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
It is the
fifth
acquisition Dell has made. Everdream's technologies are going
to complement those of acquisition number three, Silverback
Technologies, which
Dell acquired in May.
Both deals are part of Dell's strategy of building out its
management tools to help corporate buyers simplify their IT
systems. The company calls this "Simplify IT".
"Dell's buying spree continues unabated as it tries to fill gaps
in its product and services strategies. Earlier this month it
announced it was buying iSCSI storage-array supplier EqualLogic now
it has gone for Everdream's remote management technology and
services," said Ian Brown, senior analyst at Ovum.
"Everdream's Management Platform is delivered over the web as
Software-as-a-Service. It provides an integrated suite of on-demand
services for a wide range of desktop management operations. This
enables Everdream, its partners and customers to manage PCs
irrespective of their location and provides clients with a range of
compliance, uptime, and IT support services," Brown added.
