High street bank Halifax is offering its online
customers advice on how tosecure their online experiencethrough
its Security Centre.
The service will provide information on security such as advice
about firewalls and anti-virus software.
It will also test a customers understanding of security and
inform them about security threats such as phishing scams, trojans
and viruses.
A lack of awareness is often responsible for allowing phishing
scams to proliferate with user education complimentary to security
systems.
Shoomon Perry, head of ecommerce, said, "We make every effort to
ensure customers' online security, but there are some simple steps
everyone can take to stay safe online."
"Using a firewall to prevent hackers from accessing your
computer is a wise step, as is choosing a password that is hard for
someone else to guess but easy for you to remember," said
Parry.
